Maude Andrade is an interdisciplinary artist who grew up in a family of artists and eccentrics. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and has lived in California, Maine, and New Mexico where she has spent most of her life. In 1987, she graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science in Botany and a minor in Chemistry, and began a successful career in textile design, earning national recognition for her innovative graphics and surface design techniques. Through her studies at the Harwood Art Center in Albuquerque and mentoring from influential New Mexico artists, she began painting in 2005. Her paintings were featured in the June 2014 New Mexico PBS Colores series and she has exhibited in group shows at the Albuquerque Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, the Harwood Museum in Taos, The Cole Art Center in Nacodoces, Texas and the 10th Annual International Shibori Symposium in Oaxa, Mexico. She is represented by Patina Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Studio Light Space, Tucson, Arizona and the Fidelity Investments Corporate Art Collection purchased ten of her paintings in 2015. In October 2021, “Maude Andrade + Studio Visit” a video by Apollo Road was included in the 12th Annual Chagrin Documentary Film Festival.
