My name is Shelly Jackson I first threw pots @ Taft Jr. High, I did not throw again until entering college @ NMSU. While at college I was fortunate enough to be involved with a group of talented California potters and participated in the planning and building of stoneware, salt, and raku kilns as well as a foundry.
After obtaining my degree I built a studio with multiple kilns in a wilderness setting on the Pecos river near Ft Sumner NM. Upon returning to Albuquerque I enrolled @ UNM and received intense training from Dr. Jim Srubek in the Japanese "Arita" style porcelain methods. I was also fortunate to receive personal instruction from Sinsei Manji Inoue a national living treasure in Japan.
Jim Srubek joined Shelly in her current Studio in the North Valley upon retirement where she continued to develop her skills in the "Arita" style. Her studio is a cooperative group working mostly with wheel thrown pottery and porcelain sculpture.
