Janet Bothne focuses on the paint itself as subject matter. Her practice balances gut vs. brain, and chaos vs. organization to achieve works that straddle the familiar and the enigmatic. Bothne studied art at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and later at UCLA and The Brentwood Art Center in California. In 2013 she moved to New Mexico and now creates art at her studio in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque.
